The band announced on June 28 that the album was delayed to August 7, in order to "keep focused on the Black Lives Matter movement and the discussions around racism and police brutality around the world."

"I wanted this album to be a full reflection of life," Glass Animals' frontman Dave Bayley explained in their recent NME cover feature about their third album, 'Dreamland.'

Having produced two albums that primarily explored the lives of others (the 2014 debut 'Zaba' and its 2016 follow-up 'How to Be a Human Being,' the latter of which is based on a different character in each of the 11 songs), their new release signals a dramatic shift in how the Oxfordian quartet creates an album. The research is completely autobiographical for the very first time.

Bayley was afraid to write about himself in the past ("I always thought it was selfish," he told us), but on the profoundly moving final track of 'How to Be a Human Being,' 'Agnes,' Bayley opened up about a friend he lost to suicide.

'Agnes' soon became a beloved fan, and this response, as well as the experiences of Bayley collaborating with other musicians who wrote for themselves (such as Joey Bada$ and Khalid), introduced him to autobiographical writing possibilities.
