Was going for a MODERN pop/ dance/ club/radio track....alas anything to the likes of kesha, lada gaga , etc. As a DJ, my goal is to make the club goers happy, mainly getting ladies to the floor. This track surprised me, at the age of 24 I thought I was on the tail end of the originals rise, but I was happy to see 18+ year old people knowing the original, thus loving the remake.
Kept the popular parts " familiar sounds",but added modern style , because in the club those hooks are what get people to the floor, and make people happy. With older songs, I like people to feel the original song, through an updated sound.
Intro with glitch vocals - Google " glitch VST" first link I think, its free.....and can give you almost any glitch effect.
Main vocals were pitch corrected....( my software stated the originals were a tad* off )
Then processed through the ohh so lovely autotune...not to tune...but for a mild effect that we all love to hate in Modern pop music.
Have maybe a 100 or so vocal edits, you really can't "tell" as they all sound together. These range from back ground effects, to back ground choruses and harmonies. There are gates, glitches and effects on almost all the vocals in some way or another, though most turned down to a minor level. I get a bit OCD when it comes to my tracks, ive only been producing about a year, so its a lot of try and see.
The main chords are 3-4 layers of synths depending, and the main synth line is another layer of 4 different synths, I am a huge fan of layers.
BPM of the track is 110, wanted to go 120 ish....but 110 was as fast as I could go IMO that still sounded " normal" a lot of your guys tracks I noticed these high BPM's, which sounded dope, but for a pop song sound I wanted, I couldn't pull it off.
Had a heck of a time mixing and mastering this, it turned out....mehh ok....
This was my first ever " pop " song....had to learn how to lay the vocals right, get it to sound blended etc. The track could really use a pro to master it to get the sound super polished, but I gave it my best effort.....
So with a small essay written, and the track done I give you..
