Lyric lagu ep 30 - JUS 12 Re-Mixed
Re-mixed & re-recording of an old UK rave tape I did originally in 1991. I didn't know it at the time but it captures the birth of hardcore and drum and base...
The back story
1991 was a great year for the UK warehouse scene - Prodigy had just released their first vinyl the What Evil Lurks EP, (Experience was still a year away). London was in full production moving away from the 4-to-the-floor beat structures and into super fast breakbeats & 'hardcore' and New Beat had finally found it's sound , this is what makes up for most of Jus 12. I dont think there's a single U.S track on here. You can almost taste the Jungle and Drum & Base here (Low Frequency Oscillation, sped-up sample stabs, huge break-drops and so on), which was to become a full-fledged sub-genre of electronica within a couple of years...
I still have the original vinyl - mostly independent or never released promos and white labels (and mostly riddled with uncleared, illegal samples), so you just can't get hold of their digital versions legally - I had to crawl the net, I did as best as I could some tracks def sound better than others, still sounds way better than the tape, it is what is is.
Like the original recording I wanted that chaotic and mental feel, no rehearsals, just lined them up, made sure there was some kinda match between them - sank a few beers, then hit record, there's a few fuck-ups here and there, which makes it sound better IMO
