A song in loving memory of the 22 dogs killed on 27th March 2014 in Merseyside, UK and for all the countless tragic canine victims of BSL around the world and the families who love them. We will speak up for you. xx

I had to say goodbye... what do you do when you've tried

And everything's against you in this life

If I could hold you somehow

And say how much I loved you, I would cry

But everything is broken around us now...

Pictures of you make us smile, you made the wrong seem alright

And everybody loved you, held you tight

How can they do what they do?

They don't even know you like we do

They broke our hearts and broke the rules...

Now this pain flows like a river and it hurts me

And there's tears, too many tears in the Mersey

They break our hearts, they wreck our world and they call it justice!

And this law is telling lies, it kills the voiceless...

I relive that day in my mind, your gentle face soft and kind

Watching as they dragged you from our lives

If I could have just one day...

I'd find a way to save you and keep you safe

But they'd try to hurt you anyway...

So what kind of people are these, to hurt someone begging on their knees

And take away their comfort and break them down

Something unlawful goes around

They're stooping in the gutter

They're on the ground

Now this pain flows like a river and it hurts me
