Little Wing - My version

This is a mostly improvised version that I recorded out of boredom. It isn't professional or perfect, but I like it. I hope you do, too.

This was recorded using Bodhi Linux 1.4 ( bodhilinux.com ) and free software available with it. I don't have a recording interface, but I used the line-in to my laptop and Ardour for the recording. The recording is pretty rough. I haven't done any EQ work or mastering, but when I take time to play a proper version worth the work, I'll do a better job of that stuff.

I used PlayItSlowly to slow the backing track to 94% of the original speed, and then imported it into a track in Ardour, which converted it from 44.1k to 48k, and played live with headphones as a monitor. The song is one continuous take.

The guitar is a B.C. Rich Mockingbird ST. The Floyd Rose makes the bends almost impossible, but I wasn't planning on keeping this recording, so sorry it's sloppy at points. But hey, that's the blues.

The amp is a Kustom Dual 35DFX, clean channel mic'd straight to a line-in on the laptop. The first layer of distortion comes from a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, and the second layer comes from un-splitting the coil on the neck pickup and saturating the pedal. The tone was much better than the recording quality shows. ( the playing wasn't) :p
